Orzo pasta can be eaten on its own, as a soup side dish, in salads, pilafs, or giouvetsi, or baked in a casserole. Saffron, chillies, and black beans can be used to colour orzo to make yellow, orange, or black pasta. In Italian soups like minestrone, orzo pasta is frequently cooked.
