Ochre Vase

Hammered metalwork is one of the oldest fabrication techniques in existence — bronze vessels shaped by hand have been found in Egyptian tombs, Persian palaces, and the markets of medieval Isfahan, the indentations left by each strike becoming the surface itself rather than being smoothed away. This vase continues that tradition in iron: the ochre finish applied over a form that has been worked by hand, each facet catching the light at a slightly different angle. At 46cm it commands a corner, a hearth, a stairwell — anywhere a room needs anchoring.
