The design of the Pilot Pen Olfa RTY-2/G rotary cutter with a 45 mm blade stems from the invention of the world’s first snap-off blade cutter by Yoshio Okada in 1956. Okada, the founder of Olfa Corporation, was inspired to create this incredibly useful tool after breaking off segments of chocolate bars and analysing the sharp edges of broken glass. The snap-off blade cutter has since become a bestseller across the world and is commonly referred to as an “Olfa cutter”.
